10 Things to Avoid the Week Before your Wedding

Whenever your try a new hair color, you never truly know how the chemicals will react with your hair, and there is usually a waiting period before you can correct the color.  If you end up with undesirable results the week before your wedding, you may end up damaging your hair or walking down the isle in an unflattering shade of blonde on your big day.  Opt for a clear gloss that will refresh your current color and add shine to your hair instead of making any dramatic changes.

You may want to consider keeping your extra length for up-do’s or to add volume to other hairstyles.  A short haircut may clash with the neckline of your wedding gown if you are used to looking at it on yourself with longer hair.

Too much alcohol can cause you to look and feel puffy and bloated.  It causes dehydration, which can also cause dark circles under your eyes and make you look even more tired than you already feel from all of the planning.

You don’t want your body to change drastically the week before your wedding.  Your wedding gown now fits perfectly, and you don’t want any surprises when you’re putting on your dress that day.  Continue your normal exercise routine in order to maintain your current shape.

Going to a tanning booth, as opposed to a salon or spa, for your spray tan can result in uneven skin tone.  You do not know the way the tanning solution will react with your skin, and you don’t want to be stuck with an unnatural look the day of the wedding.  Make sure you exfoliate your skin first so that your tan will last longer and you won’t have to worry about it fading too much before the wedding.

Make sure you do your makeup trial far enough in advance to make sure you are comfortable with the look.  Wedding makeup should be an amplified version of your normal look.  Your makeup artist should know how to apply your makeup so that it photographs well, while still looking natural.

Juice cleanse are low in calories and typically high in sugar, if you are using lots of fruits.  This can deplete your energy levels, making you tired and irritable while you are trying to finish up all those last minute details.  Eating a healthy, balanced diet will give you the energy you need to get through your final week of planning.

If you are going to have any facial treatments done, plan on having them no later than two weeks before the wedding.  Your skin will still be peeling and irritated if you do them just one week before, and makeup will cause even more irritation.  Remember water and sleep are key for flawless skin.

Again, experimenting with skin care products should never be done within two weeks of your wedding.  If you are having skin troubles, see a dermatologist a couple of months before the wedding who can develop a skin care routine for you based on your specific  needs.

Making sure you get enough rest will ensure that your immune system stays in perfect condition, and that you will look your best on your wedding day.  No one wants to walk down the isle with a cold.  Save the tissues you carry on your wedding day for happy tears only.

7 Things to Keep in Your Clutch on Your Wedding Day

With guests to greet and cake to eat, your wedding day lipstick is bound to fade throughout the night.  Make sure your look stays complete from the very first photo to the last by keeping your lipstick with you for touch ups.

Blotting papers are a great way to touch up your face on your big day without having to carry around extra makeup with you.  You can quickly and easily maintain your perfect look throughout the evening without having to constantly reapply your powder or foundation.

If you’re planning on dancing the night away, it may be a good idea to have bobby pins on hand to keep loose strands out of your face or to keep up your fancy up-do.  They are also a great solution to a broken zipper.  These may come in handy for you, your bridesmaids, or even the groomsmen.

Your signature scent is sure to fade from when you first apply it the morning of your wedding day.  Instead of layering on the perfume in hopes that it will last longer, apply it sparingly and bring a roll on or travel size with you to reapply it later in the day.

Weddings are emotional for the bride, the groom, and guests as well.  It’s always a good idea to have a tissue available for when those wedding speeches get extra sentimental.  They are also a good alternative to blotting papers if you forgot to put them in your clutch.

No matter how well your straps fit you during alterations, they tend to shift once you start moving around.  Fashion tape is a great way to keep them, or any other parts of your dress in place on your special day. (Think plunging V neckline)

Mints are a great way to keep your breath fresh all day without the fear of being caught on camera chomping away on a piece of gum.  They also make a great parting gift for your guests.

6 Things to Splurge on When Wedding Planning

It can be overwhelming keeping all your tasks in order when it comes to wedding planning.  On the day of the wedding, the last thing you want to be thinking about is what time the cake is arriving or when to start the music that you’ll be walking down the aisle to.   Hiring a day-of coordinator will allow you to focus on being in the moment and enjoying your day, while someone else manages the details.

While some people love indulging in wedding cake, a great alternative is a dessert bar.  This will give your guests more options to choose from (yes, some people really do prefer pie) and can be a fun way to play into the theme of your wedding.

It’s always a good idea to provide some sort of entertainment for your guests.  A photo booth gives your guests a fun way to make memories of your big day, and acts as a great take away gift for them to cherish.

After a fun night of celebration, drinking, and dancing, giving your guests a bottle of water before they leave is a thoughtful way to make sure your guests stay hydrated and safe.

If you know that your family and friends like to celebrate into the early hours of the morning, consider asking your venue to extend its hours past the typical 11:00 or 12:00 deadline.  Your guests will all be able to continue the party well into the night without the hassle of having to plan an after party.

Photos are great for capturing moments, but a videographer will give you the chance to relive the special day repeatedly.  From wedding vows to your first dance, you will be able to experience those moments that mean the most.

Make Finding Your Dream Wedding Gown Easy

1. Do research on what you like.

Look online and in magazines for pictures of wedding gowns that you like.  Even if you are not sure of what will look good on you, save things that you find pretty or that your are drawn to.  Then, look for common connections or themes among the pictures that you saved.  You may find that you are considering several different styles, but that you like gowns with lace bodices or tulle skirts.

2. Make an appointment.

It is important to make an appointment to try on wedding gowns so that there is a bridal consultant to help you, and a changing room available.  At Bella Bridal Gallery, we understand that choosing a wedding gown for your big day is an important decision, and it is our mission to give you the best possible service and meet all of your bridal styling needs.  Shop early, and factor in time for alterations and accessorizing, so that you do not feel rushed or stressed about looking your best on your wedding day.

3. Be open

It is good to  have an idea about what kind of dress you want, but be open to trying different styles as well.  Sometimes certain silhouettes look different than expected once you start trying on gowns.  Make sure you try on any dress you are considering before purchasing it.  It is tempting to order something that you see online, but you will never know exactly how the dress will look, or how comfortable you will feel in the gown until you try it on.

4. Figure out your budget.

Knowing your budget is crucial to finding  your dream wedding gown.  At Bella Bridal Gallery, we work within your budget to find the best dress for you.  Shopping at trunk shows will give you access to the newest dresses at promotional pricing.  Only trying on gowns within your budget will make saying yes to the dress a fun and stress free experience.

5. Choose your entourage wisely.

When trying on wedding gowns, make sure to bring one or two close friends or family members who you want to share the special moment of saying “yes!” to the dress with you.  Keep in mind that too many opinions can make the decision harder and more confusing.  By limiting yourself to a few supportive people, you are more likely to stay true to what you love.  Remember, you can always bring people to future dress fittings so that they still feel included in the process.

6. When you know, you know.

Don’t be surprised if you find your dream gown at your first appointment!  Many brides purchase their gown on their first visit.  If you are expecting tears when you put on “the one” and it doesn’t happen, do not take it as a sign that it’s not the right dress.  Wedding dress shopping can be an emotional experience, and every one has their own unique way of processing those emotions.  Sometimes that results in tears, like you see on television, sometimes laughter, dancing, or just an over all sigh of relief.

7. Order too big instead of too small.

After you’ve found the dress, it’s time to get measured.  Almost every bride falls in-between two or three sizes.  It is always recommended that you order the dress for your biggest measurement.  Not only is it less stressful for you, knowing that no matter what happens you will be able to fit into your gown, it is also much easier to take the dress in where need be, than it is to let it out.  Remember, you are the only one who knows what size you are ordering, so do not let the number sway your decision.  All that matters is that the dress is fit to perfection.

8. Throw out the “Rules”

Wedding dress shopping should be fun!  Don’t feel like you have to wear a certain silhouette, match the venue, or embody the perfect bridal vision of your friends or family members.  Have fun and choose a gown that makes you feel like your most beautiful self! Say yes to  your dream wedding gown, and then relax and stop looking!  Now that you’ve got your dress, you can focus your energy on the many other details that need to be planned and rest assure

5 Tips For Looking Your Best On Your Wedding Day

1.Choosing the Right Wedding Gown

Every bride has an idea of what her dream gown should look like on her wedding day. An established bridal salon and a knowledgeable consultant can help you select a wedding gown that compliments your theme, your body shape, and your vision of your wedding day.  Choose a gown that makes you feel confident, secure, and like your most beautiful self.  Alterations are equally important as finding your dream wedding gown.  Even special ordered dresses require some form of alterations to get the perfect fit. Making sure you have a proper hem and bustle will allow you to move comfortably and dance the night away.

2. Hair and Makeup

Your hair and makeup for your wedding day should complement your wedding gown while staying true to your own personal style. Consider a hairstyle that showcases your wedding dress and highlights the gowns details. For example, if your wedding gown has straps, a halter neckline, or intricate back detail, an up-do, or side-swept style will complement these features of your dress. Wearing your hair down typically works best with a strapless dress so you aren’t covering up any important features.  Your makeup should also stay true to your style. You don’t want to look back at your wedding photos and think that you were pretending to be someone you are not.

3. Photography

The pictures taken on your wedding day will last a lifetime. You will have them to look back on as memories of one of the most important and special days of your life.  Choose a photographer whose portfolio you identify with, and who’s style works best with the theme of your wedding. Consider taking engagement photos to get a sense of how well you work with your photographer so that there are no surprises on the big day.

4.Staying Healthy

Wedding planning can be stressful, so it’s important to take care of yourself throughout the planning process. Getting enough sleep, exercising, and remembering to eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water will help reduce stress and anxiety levels leading up to your wedding week. This will also help ensure you are feeling your best on your wedding day.

5.Enjoy Yourself!

This is the day when you can finally enjoy everything you have been planning.  Be mentally present the day of the wedding, and remember to soak in the moments that made this day truly special. Mingle with your family and friends that are there to celebrate with you.  Remember, things may not go 100% as planned, but, if at the end of the day you are married to the one you love, then everything went perfectly!

It is required to book an appointment to try on wedding gowns so that you have the full attention of our dedicated consultants.  Here at Bella Bridal Gallery, it is our mission to give you the best possible service and meet all of your bridal styling needs.  Booking an appointment will ensure that we have enough time to explore all of your dress wants and needs.

2.  How long will my appointment last?

All of our first appointments are 90 minutes long.  This will allow you enough time to try on a variety of dresses and find one that your love!

3. How far in advance do I need to make my appointment?

It’s never too early to purchase your dream wedding gown! Most of our special order dresses take between six and eight months to arrive, and we like to allot three months for the alteration process.  However, if your wedding is less than six months away, there is the option to rush dress orders as well as off’-the-rack’ dresses for sale.  The benefits to buying early are that once you have your dream gown, you will be able to plan the rest of your wedding party details.

4. What is a special order gown?

Most of the gowns we sell are special order.  This means that your gown is made specifically for you, by the designer, based on your measurements and the designer’s size charts.  Once the gown arrives,  you will make a fitting appointment where you can address any other adjustments that your gown may need, such as a hem or bustle.  Our skilled alterations team will make sure that your dress is fit to perfection.

5. What should I bring with me to my appointment?

Pictures and an open mind!  We would love to see images from magazines or social media that fit your idea of what you want to look like on your wedding day.   However, often what we think we like in theory changes once you start trying on gowns.  Be open to different styles, and don’t be surprised if you find your dream gown at your first appointment.  Many brides purchase their gown on their first visit.  Remember, dress shopping should be fun!

6. Who should I bring with me?

Bring one or two close friends or family members whose opinion you value and trust.  They should be people who know you well and can help you make the right decision.  Make sure to include those who you want to share this special moment with.  Bringing too many people can take the focus off of you and make the final decision harder.

7. What is the budget I am comfortable with?

Knowing your budget when you come in is crucial to the success of your appointment.  Here at Bella Bridal Gallery, we do everything in our ability to stay within the budget that you provide for us.  Most of our special order dresses range from $1500 to $3500 with few that can be even higher, however we also offer off’-the-rack’ dresses for as low as $400).

10. What is a trunk show?

A trunk show is a special in-store event, for one weekend, where you can view and buy from a designer’s latest collection.  If you find your dream gown at a trunk show event, be prepared to order your dress that day, as it will not be in the store once the trunk show is over.  For more information about trunk show dates, please visit our website at http://www.bellabridal.com/trunk-shows

Getting the perfect fit with Bella Bridal Gallery’s Alteration Team

The alteration of a wedding gown is essential for a bride who wants to look her best on her big day.  During the lapse in time between ordering a wedding gown and the wear date, alterations play a major role in providing a comfortable fit for the bride.  For example, although each bride is measured for her gown, it is still cut at a standard length that has to be custom tailored to the bride once it arrives, bust and waistline needs to be adjusted sometimes, and train needs to be bustled.

Here at Bella Bridal Gallery, our number one goal is helping brides feel their most beautiful on their wedding day.  That would not be possible without the hard work and dedication to detail of our amazing in house seamstresses.  They are masters of their craft, working meticulously to ensure that each bride looks exactly as they imagined on their wedding day.

Each bride has the ability to meet with one of our seamstresses to discuss ways to customize her gown, and which bustling style she prefers.  This gives each bride the opportunity to make her dress truly unique.  Our talented seamstresses are able to make adjustments to the neckline, sleeves, back, and waist line if needed.  Each bride has a special and unique vision of what she will look like on her wedding day, and our team is happy, able, and excited to meet those expectations.

These skilled artisans can spend more hours than you can imagine working on a single dress.  They adjust every inch of each gown, as needed, in order to ensure a perfect fit, shimmering embroidery, and making sure each bride will be photo ready on her big day.  With their keen eye and creative vision, they are able to accommodate any gown customization request from a bride.  They consistently strive to go above and beyond any and all expectations in order to make each bride’s dream come true.
